During the 2023-2024 school year, FASNY set out on a mission to partner with the AEFE to secure an EFE3D sustainability label. The ultimate goal is for students to be the driving force behind sustainable development at school and to help make a significant and lasting impact on school life.

The collective hard work paid off, and in June 2024, FASNY was awarded the EFE3D level 2 label but the work doesn't stop there!
Across all divisions, our students engage in a variety of activities that promote environmental sustainability. From organizing campus-wide clean-up initiatives, visiting the United Nations, welcoming guest speakers, cultivating the Manor Garden, or simply using campus-wide recycling bins, printing less, turning off lights, and even switching from disposable to re-usable cutlery in the lunch rooms, these activities reflect a growing awareness among our students of the impact of human actions on the planet.

FASNY students not only contribute positively to our school campuses,  but their efforts and collaboration also inspire faculty & staff, parents, alumni, and friends to adopt eco-friendly practices in their daily lives. Our incredible, caring students are a catalyst for meaningful change within our FASNY community and beyond.
While celebrating the progress made, we continue to forge ahead in order to make an even greater impact on our local and global communities. During the 2024-2025 school year, several sustainable development projects will be launched, aimed at fostering environmental responsibility and community engagement. These initiatives will focus on reducing our carbon footprint, promoting eco-friendly practices, and educating students on the importance of sustainability.

Hands-on projects this year include:
  • A new vegetable garden at the Village Campus
  • Student Eco Reps at all three campuses
  • Welcoming Expert Speakers to students at all levels
  • Detailed signage for recycling and garbage
  • Visiting the UN to meet speakers specializing in climate, biodiversity, and the management of climate refugees
  • Introducing composting across campuses
  • Clean Up Nature Days
  • Adding MyGardyn systems on each campus
  • Green Month Initiatives & Partnerships
  • Many More…

Additionally, sustainability topics will continue to be integrated into the curriculum, clubs, and community events in order to raise awareness about global environmental challenges and encourage innovative solutions. Together, we can make a positive impact on our school and the planet and perhaps even achieve our next EFE3D level 3 goal!
